maybe a vacuum test but, definatly a compression test one of the most crucial tests.
The code in which you are referring to is from the OBD-O B16A Pr 3 ecu. Code 22 which is the Variable Valve Timing & Valve Lift Electronic Control Pressure Switch... aka (VTEC Pressure Switch) Hope this helped.
Not sure quite what your problem is. The bit which usually gives trouble is the egr.valve itself. This is usually replaced as an assembly,as I don't believe it is able to be refurbished. It only involves a wiring plug and two bolts to remove it. == == If this is the one I am thinking of, that is vacuum operated, and on the top of what passes for an induction manifold on a Diesel engine, I don't think you can get it unless you do buy the whole unit. I suspect the reason for this is that the valve seats onto a precision machined surface that is part of the manifold. The valve and the valve seat have to be matched as a pair. Fitting a new valve to an old valve seat just wont work right, unless you have access to equipment that most Vauxhall dealers wont pay for just to replace one valve a year.

The vacuum at idle should be a steady reading between 17 and 22 inches ( in-Hg). for most automotive engines

I would say that my 1998 S-10 does not have a PCV valve, at all, anywhere.
