If the motor is the 2.4L it will be on the back side of the motor, right below the exhaust manifold. It's a job to do. If its a 2.4 the water pump is in the rear of the motor. You must remove the exhaust manifold to access the water pump. Then you must remove the timing chain cover. When you remove the timing chain cover you must remove the timing chain tensioner. Its quite a big job.
Pay a mechanic to replace it
Is located in side right under manifold
A 1996 Pontiac Sunfire uses Dexcool coolant. This should only be mixed with distilled water, never tap water. Replace the coolant every 2 years or as needed.
Usually right above and in line with the crankshaft pulley
I have a 98 GT it was underneath yhe car just follow the water hose
Off the water pump
Take it out and put a new one in!
To change the thermostat on a sunfire, look for the largest hose going into the water pump.Should be to the left as you look down at your fan. There should be a clamp holding the hose on. Remove the hose and look in the hole that the hose was pulled out of. It will be seated right there. If you need a pic. I have a manual and I can email it to anyone . My email is: jaybird@supercity.ca
how do I replace water pump 2000 Pontiac Grand AM SE1?
generally, if you know that the pump is bad or failing, replace it. Repairing it is rarely an option. That's why there's a core charge on them. They are returned for factory refurbishment.
how do i replace a water hose in 1993 pontiac grand am
The water pump is located on the passenger's side of the vehicle near where the engine belt is located (on a 3.3L engine). It seems to be a little difficult to get to. Have always had someone else replace my water pump don't know how difficult it is to replace.
