Auto parts stores can sell you a trailer harness that plugs in between your existing truck harness. The electrical connection used is usually located behind the rear bumper on the inside of the left frame. Directions will come with the trailer harness kit.
Not all trucks are built with a trailer harness plug. If you can not find one, then your truck does not have one and you need to install one.

you can buy a wireing harness that just plugs into your existing wires at a parts store, you do not have to cut any wires! just unplug back by your bumper and plug in the new plug. that's it.
Yes. Check the fuse/relay center under the hood.
Check with your local auto parts store, they can sell you a trailer harness that simply plugs into your existing harness, very easy to do, just follow instructions. The harness should be in the $25 range.
If the motor is the same the wiring harness should fit. Only thing I would check is the sending units. As long as both vehicles have gauges or both have warning lights all should be fine.
it's at the rear behind the left side cover. once the cover is pull you should see a plug in. You may have to go to the dealer to get the proper wiring harness.
Check ALL the GROUNDS in the wiring harness and make SURE they are tight and clean.
Just a suggestion, check your trailer lights harness for corrosion. They were taking the dash lights down in my chevy.
most dont come with a wiring harness for trailer but if you look under the driver side of the truck under the bumper you will see a bundle of wires and there should be a paper located on the wires to match up a wiring harness. The ground is a large white wire and hook up other wires color to color. Most wiring harnesses are 4 wire but you should have enough for a 6 wire on the truck but only use 4. I just wired mine up last week!
There are about 5 fuses for the trailer harness, Trailer Back up,Trailer left turn, Trailer right turn, Trailer Brake, and Trailer hazards. They are located in the underhood fuse box on the Drivers side of your motor. On my 2003 Silverado, the Trailer left/stop and Trailer right/stop fuses are located in the fuse panel just inside the driver's side door. (Not sure about the trailer brake or hazard fuses.....I wasn't having problems with those :). There is one additional fuse for the trailer harness. The 15A fuse for the trailer running lights is located in the fuse panel under the hood, next to the battery. The fuse is labeled "Trailer Park".
I have a wire "whip" that was tucked into the compartment that houses the jack and tire wrench. There should be a harness that is gray and stuffed somewhere with the jack. Attache your trailer lights to this harness. It should be about 6 feet long.
