First find the topmost large radiator hose that connects to the top of the block, where this hose connects you will see two bolts across from each other, remove them with a socket and long extension, once they are out and you move this piece the hose is clamped to you will see the thermostat, always replace the gasket too.

you need a special puller, it is designed to remove the pulley whitch is pressed on, after the pulley is removed you can get to the 4 bolts that secure the pump, the puller also servs the purpose of pressing the pully back on, can be bought at most auto parts stores, i paid around $70 for mine, unless you do this type of work often it will get used once and that's it, so you may be dollars ahead just to pay someone to do it for you
