According to the 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Owner Guide : The automatic transmission does not have an underhood transmission fluid dipstick
Down the transmission dipstick tube.
The automatic transmission does - look near the firewall just on the passenger side of the engine
Should be the 700R4 transmission.
"Chevrolet's current trucks in North America are the Avalanche, Captiva Sport, Colorado, Equinox, Express, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, and the Traverse."
The dipstick is a special tool that only the dealer and a transmission repair shop would have.
There is no dipstick for the manual transmission , the fluid level is checked at the fill plug on the transmission ( underneath the Explorer )
The 2013 Equinox is a Chevrolet crossover SUV. The 2013 Captiva Sport (compact) is also a Chevrolet crossover SUV. One might also want to consider the 2013 Chevy Traverse which is also a Chevrolet crossover.
AnswerOn my 1993 Jeep Cherokee Sport, with the AUTOMATIC transmission, I add it directly to the dipstick hole where you check the transmission fluid level. (The dipstick is near the back of the engine.) Use a funnel to add the fluid to the dipstick hole. Check the fluid level when the vehicle is at normal hot running temperature, idling in PARK. Don't overfill! It will only take about a pint (half a quart) of fluid to raise the level from "ADD" to "FULL". Add a bit at a time and recheck the level. Overfilling can cause foaming and loss of fluid. Finally, the 1993 Jeep Cherokee Sport is known to have a problem with fluid leak from the speed sensor on the transmission. So one has to add transmission fluid more frequently than normal.
In the transmission....... On '07's and '08's, Ford removed the dip stick in the engine compartment. There is a fill plug usually located on the front right side of the transmission. Under this plug is a short dipstick which is attached to the bottom of the plug.
Locate the transmission fluid dipstick. Follow the owner's manual instructions for checking the fluid level. Engine hot? Running in neutral? Then USING A SMALL FUNNEL ADD the fluid down the dipstick tube, SLOWLY until it is up to the proper mark. It will NOT take much fluid. DO NOT OVERFILL.
A regular Cherokee uses Dextron A Grand Cherokee uses Mopar ATF+4
