The automatic transmission dipstick is just to the left of the engine ( when you
are standing in front facing the engine ) near the firewall , the manual
transmission doesn't have a dipstick
On a 1995 Ford Explorer ( automatic transmission ) You use a funnel and add transmission fluid through the dipstick tube ( it is located in the engine compartment , by the firewall , towards the passenger side of the vehicle , where the transmission is bolted to the rear of the engine )

If it is a Manual transmission you do not have a dipsticks.
Remove the transmission dipstick and read what it says on the stick, it will tell you what fluid to use.

The tranny dipstick will be of a maroon color an the driver side of the car.
