The U.S.S. Texas is a virginian class attack submarine and the fourth ship to be named after the "Lonestar State" with a unique emblem / badge designed over the badge of the "Texas Ranger" meaning - "Dont Mess With Texas" The 1st USS Texas saw Navy service from 1895 to 1911.
The 2nd USS Texas (BB-35) was a Battleship that saw duty in both world wars (now on display as a state park near Houston).
The 3rd USS Texas (DLGN/CGN-39) was a guided missle cruiser.
The 4th USS Texas (SSN-775) is a nuclear attack submarine (commissioned in 2006).

Texas BB - 35 was Decommissioned April 21, 1948 & given to the State of Texas, she is now a museum , when a war ship is turned into a museum it is permanently disabled , the props were removed , the prop shafts were removed, & the prop housing was welded shut , if those things were replaced she would run with the largest engines afloat

USS Texas is the only dreadnaught remaining afloat. It is a WW1 ship. Her last war was WW2. Her sister was the battleship USS New York, which was sunk in the Pacific Ocean as a target, after WW2. The only US battleship to fight in Vietnam was the Iowa class battleship USS New Jersey.

The USS Texas is the only known Dreadnaught still afloat. 2. Japan retains: IJN Mikasa, a 12" gunned Pre-Dreadnaught veteran from the Russian-Japanese War in 1904-1905 (Battle of Tsushima specifically). Mikasa is the only known PRE-Dreadnaught still in existance. Russia retains the Battle of Tsushima veteran, their Imperial Cruiser AURORA, still afloat. And the US still has Admiral Dewey's flagship, the USN Cruiser USS Olympia (Spanish-American War 1898), still afloat.
