∙ 15y agoA typical network connection is what's called an RJ45 plug. It looks like a telephone plug but has 8 connectors rather than the 4 that comes on a telephone.
The RJ45 plug connects to the network card (provided that the computer is so equipped) and lets you connect to the network.
It's possible to get fiber-optic network connectivity, or even use your USB port. Some computers are even equipped with a wireless connection.
If yours is a computer with "none of the above", it might be best to purchase and install a network card. They are relatively inexpensive and available at most computer retailers.
