If your patient complains of a runny nose, the first thing you should do is check the patient's temperature.
Check for breathing as soon as the scene is safe, the patient is unconscious, and 911 (or the local emergency number) has been called.
The doctor will take the temperature of the patient using a clinical thermometer.
Temperature is recorded to check for fever (pyrexia or a febrile condition), or to monitor the degree of hypothermia.

Apologise to the patient and check if the patient can do sign language and try get someone to help
If the patient is choking, the first priority is to clear the airway, not check the pulse. The airway should be cleared first, and then once the rescue breaths go in, check for a pulse.

Before administering it to the patient
The Recovery Position, or Lateral Recombant. Care should be taken when placing the patient in this position that no spinal injuries are suspected, and that the airway is open. Also check the modified Haines position, which creates less torsion on the spine. See links.
