Its in the distributor
yes it dose, it has a cam sensor and a crank sensor,
The 94 and 95 are the same,no cam sensor.1996 and 1997 are differant in one way.The 1996 and 1997 have a cam sensor. .The 97 has a cam sensor and the 94 does not.The 1996 has a cam sensor too.
around the optical lens
It is a non serviceable part of the distributor. The distributor will need replaced if the cam sensor has failed.
behind the intake manifold on the top surface of the cylinder block
The 95 S10 4.3L still uses the distributor.
On the drivers side of the valve cover...it's round and the plug for the harness points downwards.
if it has a 4.3 , the cam sensor is in the distributor under the rotor in the back , (not sure about crank sensor) I've been looking into the same thing. Some 4.3's have a crank sensor on the bottom of the timing chain cover, maybe around 95-96 or later. All others are controlled at the distributor.
You can get a distributor's wiring diagram for a 1995 Galant online at places like The Galant Center. You can also find the diagram at Mitsubishi Motors.
I don't think that there is a camshaft sensor on this engine. There is however, a crankshaft sensor that is located on the passenger side of the bellhousing where it meets the engine. It should be just to the passenger side of the distributor. There is s sensor in the distributor that does the same job as a cam sensor.
