Some rattlesnake species hibernate during the cold winter months. They often gather together for hibernation in large numbers (even more than 1000 snakes) and huddle together in underground dens. Rattlesnakes usually return to the same den year after year, sometimes travelling several miles to get there. They share their winter burrows with other species that may hibernate during the same time period.

It is highly unlikely that a rattlesnake would hibernate in a house if the house has no crack or openings that would allow a snake to enter. They have been known to enter garages and sheds and may hibernate there unless the temperature approaches freezing. Rattlesnakes usually try to avoid confrontations with humans.

They don't hibernate as such... but they do enter a dormant state during cold months. They usually shelter in caves and other places that keep them warm whilst it's cold outside.

In areas with cold winters, yes they hibernate but not in tropical regions. Some rattlers will estivate (summer hibernate) during the hottest days of summer.
