Ant vacuum port.
It hooks to a vacuum port on the intake manifold behind the carb.
vacuum pump through the dipstick or oil access port.
Look for a leak in the port-side vacuum.
on the back of the throttle body or intake port.
It needs to be attached to a full time vacuum source such as a port on the intake manifold.
It comes out the left side,towards the rear of the tranny. The metal line runs up on top of the transmission to a port behind the throttle body. Other vacuum line are also connected to that port.
Pulling a vacuum on an ac system requires a vacuum pump or venturi pump with the correct type connector. The pump is connected to the low side ac port, and the vacuum could take an hour to pull depending on the pump size.
It does not hook to the intake. It fits on the big vacuum port on the back of the carburetor.
The low pressure service port on your Chevrolet K 1500 air conditioning compressor will be the one closest to the front of the engine compartment. The low pressure service port should be labeled.
All engines must have a harmonic balancer instaled on them. Balanced or not. Hook a vacuum gauge to direct vacuum port on intake. That is a place that will have vacuum on it when the engine is running at an idle. Then read gauge and move the distributor until you get the highest vacuum reading. It should be 18 to 21 inches of vacuum at an idle.
There should be a vaccuum hose schematic on a sticker somewhere in the engine compartment.
