That is hard to answer as you did not say where you reside.

Assuming you are in North America, try checking with a local farm feed store. All chicken farmers need feed for their flock and usually get that food from the same source. The folks at the feed store will know who sells chicks and full grown hens. Feed stores also can order day old chicks for you. Another source is on-line, you can browse your search engine for "Day old chicks" and have them shipped to you via the U.S. Postal service.

Local 4H clubs are also a good source of information.

Chicks are often bought from places called hatcheries. These are places where many eggs are hatched. The chicks are sent out quickly so they will get to the customers the next day. Because the yolk closes over the chick's stomach a day before hatching, they don't need food or water for their first 24 hours after hatching. This makes it really good for farmers, who are receiving the chicks, because they can choose how they want their chicks fed. Some may want a natural feed, while others may want growth hormones. But, chicks are bought from hatcheries.

What are free-range eggs?

The yolk of a free range egg is normally darker orange in color. Much more tastier than a poor caged bird. If you buy from a local farmer then they will be able to tell you how their chickens are kept. Eggs from the supermarket come from commercially raised chickens. The USDA has no regulations on what constitutes are free range egg. Therefore a non-free range chicken can have free range eggs. And a commercially raised free range chicken is usually not free range.

Can you buy gluten free eggs?

Eggs are not made of wheat, rye, or barley (which contain the protein Gluten). Eggs are unborn chickens.

Where can one buy good chickens for a chicken farm?

You can go to real free-range chicken and eggs and find any chicken that you are looking for. You can also go to any farmer and ask if they would like to sell 1 of their chickens to you.

Why do free range eggs cost more than cage eggs?

The USDA has no rules on what can be called a free range eggs. Therefore a chicken that lays eggs in a house where they cant go outside, are crowded, have no clean air, the ground is dirty and littered with dead chickens and feces, and they are forced to live in 24/7 artificial light that helps boost egg production is considered as free range as the eggs lain by the family farm raised chicken that gets to roam in a pasture and eat bugs during the day. Buying from your local farmer ensures true free range eggs. True free range chickens get a greater variety of food and they eat what the like, not what is supplied. Free range hens get fresh veggies and proteins from bugs and insects. A free range egg is always much fresher when bought from the farmer as they are collected daily and not transported for miles to be stored in refrigerated containers or the back of a grocery store for days and weeks. If you get a chance, fry up one store bought egg and one free range farm egg in the same pan. Taste one, then the other and the difference is amazing. Also notice the difference between the yolk colours, the free range egg will almost always be brighter and more appealing

Why is the food yield higher from battery chickens than free range chickens?

free range chickens are free to run around outside, and have lots of space and grass to be as natural as possible battery chickens are kept in barns of thousands, and can hardly move because of the other animals. they are unhealthy and lots die due to the poor conditions. free range is normally more expensive to buy, but is better for the chickens

You can't - not without cracking one open. Feel of the eggs. If they are hot then don't buy them.

Can the amount of protein a person eats affect their intelligence?

Yes. Protein is essential to the brain. One doesn't have to eat red meat, but fish, free-range chicken, eggs and seafoods are good for you as are legumes (any type of beans such as kidney beans, etc.) Free-range chickens and beef don't have the hormones in them that the regular meats do. I buy it and although a little more expensive it's well worth it.

Which type of egg is the best value for money?

Buy the regular, large chicken eggs without regard to color of the shell. Buy whichever costs less at your store. While it is possible to get various other types, such as brown eggs, or omega 3 enriched eggs, eggs from free-range chickens, etc., it really doesn't make much difference if any to the quality of the egg. If you are concerned about obtaining more omega 3 fatty acids in your diet, you are much better off buying a bottle of flax oil than buying eggs that come from chickens who have been fed flax seeds. Get your flax supplement directly, rather than by way of a chicken.

When do chickens in harvest moon ds start laying eggs?

How much are the battery eggs and free range eggs?

As you have used the term Battery I assume you are not in North America. Here in North America The price of a dozen Grade A large eggs here is around $2.50 in grocery stores. The price of a dozen Large free range eggs is about $1.00 more or $3.00 These prices vary depending on where you are located and where you buy the eggs. Farm fresh eggs bought right off the farm are often within the same price range as from local grocery stores but much fresher.

Can a kakaraki lay an egg without mating?
