Check with your local auto repair shot to see if they rent tools. If so, they likely carry a crankshaft pulley remover. I'm in the process of changing the water pump on my 2002 Intrepid and I rented the tool. Now I have to find the installer because the one they had didn't fit my pulley.
You will need a special 3 jaw puller and an insert for the puller to push against.
You'll need a puller you should be ablt to get a lon from on of you autoparts suppliers without this you will not be able to remove it Jim.
This requires a power steering pulley puller. This puller is designed to remove and install a power steering pulley without damage to the pulley and or pump. Attempting to do this without the puller will result in damaging the pulley or the pump or both.
Hi The 3.5L has a tapered shaft, you MUST use a balancer puller or you will damage the pulley. These pullers are under $30 bucks
To remove that pulley with out damaging the pump or the pulley you need a power steering pulley puller. This tool will also install the pulley. Your local auto parts store can rent or sell you that puller.
That is not a Allen screw in there. That is part of the pump shaft. If you are looking to remove the pump pulley you will need a power steering pulley puller. This tool will help you remove it and replace it, without the puller you will damage the pulley or the pump or both.
