An auto mechanic
There was actually a recall for the power steering. It is covered by the dealership and should be fixed at no cost to you. The recall said the power steering assist will go out and the power steering light will go on.
dirt or lent in steering colum or a mechanical binding problem, some cars have a recall or techincal service bullenten about this problem. you can go to your dealer or local repair shop to have this fixed.
If you got it fixed at a repair shop or a dealer I'd take it back and have them fix it. If you fixed it yourself, it could be as simple as that you forgot to replace an o-ring on the power steering pump line.. If I knew where it was leaking, I could help you pin point the problem.
The squeaking of a steering column can usually be fixed by adding power steering fluid. It can also be fixed by replacing the belt in the car.
No, my steering is fine.
You don't. The light is on because there is a problem and will remain on until the problem is fixed. When the problem is fixed the light will go out by itself. As long as the airbag light is on the airbag won't function if needed. A common problem with an older vehicle is the "clock spring" goes bad. All or some of the electrical items located in the steering wheel like the horn, cruise control and airbag stop working when the "clock spring" fails.
I have the same problem and I had to go to a dealer preferably dodge dealer to get it fixed. Popular problem on caravans!
Try pushing the hazard light switch on steering column repeatedly. I had a strange problem with my hazards once and this fixed it for now. I think my problem was the signals not working though....
Fix the deficiency. The light will go out on its own after you get up to 15 MPH once you've corrected the problem.
Of course there is any ways get the bikes fixed. Go to the bakeshop, describe the problem about the bike and they'll get it fixed.
There is a problem effecting the emissions controls. Take it in and have the computer scanned and the problem fixed. Go to the climate control panel and press the 'Off' and 'WARM' button for 5 or 6 seconds, the fuel data display will change to the onboard dianostics mode. Watch all the code numbers that appear. The same simptoms can occurr if he power steering pressure switch is bad, power steering fluid is excessively low, or the power steering pump has gone bad. The problem seems to go away after you have gone a short distance. You should be getting a service engine soon light also. Code E40 is power steering switch open.
