The first actual refrigeration machine was invented at the University of Glasgow, by William Cullen in 1748. However, in-home refrigerators were not available until around 1834, by Jacob Perkins (an American Inventor). Then, in 1857, an Australian by the name of James Harrison developed the first combination Refrigerator and Ice Maker, which is most like what is used today.
