Basically interferential is 8,000 pulses of electricity - PPS ( machine goes off and on ) per second which is a "layering current". The purpose of that is to reduce the actual resistance of the skin to the electricity. The pulses over and above 8,000 are referred to as the "stimulating" current. Generally speaking for any form of pain that number is over and above 50 per second up to 150.With an interferential unit you would choose 8,050 - up to 8,150 pulses per second for sciatica. Many machines refer to this range as "high" but the actual technical number is always in the instruction manual.
