Best Answer

The most destructive, if not the largest, tsunami ever recorded was the Sumatra tsunami known as the Boxing Day 2004 tsunami, on 26 December 2004.

An earthquake off the west coast of Sumatra in Indonesia sent a deadly tsunami across the Indian ocean and smaller waves into the Pacific (and Southern) Ocean. The wave caused deaths or damage in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Burma, Bangladesh, India, and on the coast of Somalia in Africa.
