Mary Read was captured by Captain Jack Rackham, also known as Calico Jack, along with Anne Bonny in 1720. They were both part of Rackham's crew, and Mary Read and Anne Bonny were known for their skill and courage as female pirates.
Some of the most well known pirates of this era were Edward Teach (Blackbear), Edward England, Stede Bonnet, Calico Jack Rackham, Bartholomew Roberts, and Mary Read and Anne Bonney. Of course, there were thousands of others, but these are some of the most prolific and famous.

Anne Bonny and Mary Read were captured after their pirate ship was attacked by a British naval vessel in 1720. Bonny and Read were both convicted of piracy and sentenced to hang, but their sentences were commuted to life in prison due to pregnancy and they disappeared from historical records after that.
