The egyptians
The Egyptians were people who came from Egypt.
First the Egyptians, then Arabs, Ethiopians, Libyans, Macedonians, Romans. As you can see, Egypt was ruled by many groups. However if you want an answer simply between Greeks and Romans, it was the Greeks who were in Egypt as rulers before the Romans.
No. The Greeks came about a thousand years before the Romans.
I think it was the Greeks & the Romans who called the land south of the Aegian Sea Aegyptos. So that is how that country came to be known as Egypt (or some variation of it) in Europeans languages. The land today is called Masr by the Egyptians who speak Egyptian Arabic today. In Ancient Egypt the Land was called Kemet by the natives whose spoke Egyptian at that time. Egyptians modern successor Coptic calls the land Kimi.
This symbol came from Egypt, so I guess the only answer would be the ancient Egyptians.

Cats were first introduced in Ancient Egypt times. They were around before then they were just never discovered by any humans. When they came along they had never been seen before, the Egyptians were very amazed at this creature. So the Egyptians made cats like gods. They were to be respected.
