Also since domestication had happened not far from them, it easily spread. The large mass of water impeded several technologies, especially economic and agricultural ones, from reaching the America's until the arrival of European powers. A great book i recommend if you want further readings on this, would be guns germ and steel by Jared diamond, or the film of this book by national geographic.
