The backup light switch is generally located on the Transmission. If you would like to see one then follow the link to RockAuto.com and locate your Truck. Hope This Helps.
I'd paint my truck colors that reflected my individuality. Maybe bright blue, or red, or ad some decals that say, "I own the road!"
I had a similar problem on a Ford truck and it turned out to be the ignition switch. The truck would start just fine but when I released the ignition key the truck would die. I replaced the switch and problem was gone.
A bad universal joint is one possibility.
you can just use a toggle switch,,,you need a relay capable of the amps it takes for the starter.it would connect between the starter and the battery, then you would need a toggle switch preferably a momatary toggle switch to activate the relay.
It is probably the dimmer switch. The contacts in the switch will get pushed back and when you switch to dims they will not touch. Had the same problem on my 91 Nissan.
bad headlight switch.
Number of reasons.. faulty starter, bad batteries, bad/corroded electrical connections, fried ECM.
