In 1912, Titanic was built to the tune of $7.5M US. There is a Titanic hotel being built in China (as of 2017) but there is no propulsion so it's not quite the same thing.
The Chinese, Irish, and the Americans worked on the Transcontinental Railroad. The Chinese had 11,000 workers and they are greatly cheered today because without them, the railroad would not have been completed that fast. I'd say how slow it still takes us Americans to build schools and new roads that we might still be working on the First Transcontinental Railroad today!! The Chinese were paid 28 dollars a month and worked from before sunrise to way after sundown. When the Chinese have a job to do they stick to it!!! - KK
Irish immigrants worked on the union pacific railroad to help build west from Omaha Nebraska. The Union Pacific was in fierce competition with the central pacific railroad so the irish sometimes would sabotage the work of the central pacific.
Decatur, Georgia, would not allow the railroad coming through the natural valley from Charlotte, North Carolina in the east to stop there so they built a station a few miles away and called it Lucyville. They changed the name to Atlanta. Another railroad was built west just south of the Alabama mountains that came to Atlanta. Another railroad was built through the natural valley from Chattanooga, Tennessee, and came to Atlanta. Another railroad was built through a natural valley that comes there through the Chattahoochee, River, from Columbus, Georgia. Another railroad was built through another valley that went to Macon. Another railroad was built from Augusta. Atlanta started as a railroad hub. Later since it had railroad transportation to almost anywhere in the South, it added factories and distribution centers. It had location, location, and location.
