Not at all. Carver did not "invent peanut butter". The Aztecs were making it three hundred years before Carver was born.

Pretty much the same as it is now. Carver developed a lot of things, but mostly they involved making something that already existed but using different raw materials. He didn't really invent anything truly unprecedented.
