Abraham was a model of how humans should live their lives displaying courage, faith, sacrifice, obedience, and trust in one supreme God. I call the book of Hebrews the book of faith.

The Letter to the Hebrews is one of the more sophisticated new testament writings, with the author connecting the Old Testament passages to the present concerns of the community of faith.

What are the 4 parts of Bible Study?

There are many ways to study the Bible; first let me let me say what would be most helpful to you; if you have not already done so; is to join a local church where you will be able to take advantage of the wisdom and knowledge of those who have decades experience and wisdom from studying the Bible. The only tool I strongly suggest you purchase is a Study Bible; order on-line or purchase from local book store1. Study Bible /costs approximately $45.002. Bible concordance; I personally recommend "Strong's Concordance" you can find it on-line for free or it cost approximately $20.00 if purchased at book store3 Bible commentary; I personally recommend "Matthew Henry Commentary" /find it on-line over the Internet for free; unless you want to spent several 100's of dollars to buy the volumesTo Name a few Methods of study:1. Subject: for example look up a word from the Bible such as "Baptism" and from the Concordance you will find all the scriptures that the word is found in; you could then use the commentary for expositions of the scripture the word is found in2. Books: Pick out a book from the Bible (strongly suggest start in the New Testament)examine the key words (ones used most) or the theme in each chapter3. Group study uses these methods mentioned aboveMost importantly Pray; ask God to open your mind to understand the scriptures for the things of the Spirit knows no man nor can he rightly comprehend them except the Spirit of God guide him; pray well and you will study well.

Where can I get free bible study lessons?

I could be mistaken, but I believe Bible study is free to anyone interested. Off the top of my head I would recommend speaking to a clergy member for starters and then maybe contacting local study groups.

How is The Bible used?

You can use it to help you understand different things in life. If you look in the Bible's concordonce(kind of like an index), you'll find verses related to the subject you're looking for. Example: Say you needed to find a verse on Faith, you would look up the word Faith in the concordonce and it would give you a bunch of verses. God Bless, DWWJ316

What is the best type of Bible for a college student?

Either a study bible or a reference bible. The study bible has extended footnotes and maps but the reference bible has verses connected on the same topic. I guess you just have to look at a few bibles before you really find what you're looking for. If you're just looking to learn God's word then any standard bible would work but there's even some bibles geared just towards college students and their issues.

What is a good topic for a bible study?

Well, right now, the Bible study I'm co-leading is going through Romans. I would recommend just going through a book of the Bible. I'm also doing James which is a great one. I would recommend getting a commentary on the book you want to do (look up like 'commentary on Romans by John MacArthur' on Amazon.com and you'll ffind the book I'm using. It's awesome!) and just basing your study straight from the word of God. :)

What books do Jehovah witnesses study besides the Bible?

the Jehovah witness have other books beside the bible but they all are based on the bible and interesting is that they all say look for it in a certain bible text. FURTHER While, for religious enlightenment Jehovah's witnesses study a number of books published by the Watchtower Society, only the bible is considered divinely inspired. Their bible study aids are merely tools to help them understand holy scripture more clearly.

Catholic Serendipity Bible?

The Serendipity Bible is a set of protestant Bible study questions set up for personal or small group study of the Bible. The Catholic Serendipity Bible just adds additional questions for the Deuterocanonical books. I personally have not seen a copy of it, but I would check it out with a Catholic Biblical scholar, I am at a large Catholic monastery this weekend and will see if one of the Scripture scholars around here knows anything about it. Amazon lists several positive reviews. My only caveat would be that it seems as if the "discussion questions" are the same for the protestant and Catholic version, the only difference being the addition of the Deuterocanonical books, if this is so, then I wouldn't recommend it as protestants look for entirely different things in the Bible then Catholics do. As this entire program is based on protestant Bible study, I would be extremely hesitant to buy this Bible. . I checked, do not buy this Bible, it does not have a Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur, and it is written and published by a protestant publishing house. Just pass it by.

What is the difference in studying the Bible and reading it?

The most basic answer is found in the definition of the words "study" and "read". (The following definitions are from Dictionary.com.) Study: application of the mind to the acquisition of knowledge, as by reading, investigation, or reflection: long hours of study. Read: to look at carefully so as to understand the meaning of (something written, printed, etc.): to read a book; to read music. When you study for school, you're trying to retain the information, not just read it. So studying the Bible would be doing the same - trying to retain the information. How do you retain information you're studying? You have to truly understand what you're looking at on all levels. Again, the same for studying the Bible, you'd be trying to fully understand it. Reading is just reading. I can tell you to look up a verse, like I John 4:7, 8, and you could look it up and read it to see what it says. Unless you decided to memorize it, you would only be reading the Bible.
