The book of Revelation ( I see that you correctly used the singular ) was written by John on the isle of Patmos. It was written before the gospel of John and before several of the new testament books.

This is a debatable question. The traditional answer is John the Apostle. However, stylistic and theme variations between the Gospel of John and Revelation cause some modern folks to doubt this. Sometimes the authorship is ascribed to a disciple (or group of disciples) who were followers of John - John's school, or close friends, if you will. Others have suggested it was s person named John the Evangelist and yet others go with a John of Patmos (Patmos being the place where it was supposed to be written).

Firstly, Revelation is not a Gospel- it's a Book.Whilst there is no concrete evidence to suggest who wrote the Book Of Revelation, it is commonly believed that it was written by Jesus' apostle John (also the writer of one of the four Gospels) in his old age after he saw the events of the Book happening in a dream sequence, which he believed to be a message from God.

There were multiple 'authors'.

God "authored" the information, passed it on to Jesus, who then angelically relayed it to John, who physically wrote it down for our benefit. ("The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servantJohn" (Revelation 1:1 KJB)

Yes they are. The gospel according to St. John, 1, 2, and 3 John, and revelation were all written by John the apostle. The general belief is that they were the same, but some biblical scholars some believe that St. John the Divine who wrote the Revelation was a different man from the apostle John who wrote the Gospel of John.
