No one officially made the Fourth of July. The first celebration occured because The United States of America became an independent nation on that day and so it was natural that the Americans celebrated their victory over the British. Ever since then it is celebrated every year in honor of our independence as a country.

∙ 12y agoThe fourth of July or Independence Day became a special day in 1776 , some 12 years before the US existed and had a President. However, Thomas Jefferson, who became the 3rd president , was the main author of the Declaration of Independence which created the holiday.
