The 11th amendment.
AMENDMENT XI
Passed by Congress March 4, 1794. Ratified February 7, 1795.
Note: Article III, section 2, of the Constitution was modified by amendment 11.
The Judicial power of the United States shall not be construed to extend to any suit in law or equity, commenced or prosecuted against one of the United States by Citizens of another State, or by Citizens or Subjects of any Foreign State.
in other words:
Simplified United States Constitution and Bill of Rights
11. Forbids the citizens of another state or of
a foreign country from suing a state in the U.S.
courts (1798).
The Eleventh Amendment, which was ratified in reaction to a Supreme Court decision in Chisholm v. Georgia, (1793), in which the Court declared the states lacked sovereign immunity from being sued for debt incurred to US citizens during the Revolutionary War.
"The Judicial power of the United States shall not be construed to extend to any suit in law or equity, commenced or prosecuted against one of the United States by Citizens of another State, or by Citizens or Subjects of any Foreign State."
There is no such amendment. It is allowed. You are probably confusing this with the Eleventh Amendment, which prevents a State from being sued by a citizen of a different state. Under the principle of sovereign immunity, the state would have to consent to such a suit.
11th Amendment
The 11th amendment states this.
No part of government is exempt from the Fifth Amendment to the US Constitution.
Because it is called for in the 6th Amendment to the Constitution.
Tenth Amendment
The 3 branches of government can write an amendment
The 16th amendment does.
Amendment 11
The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees freedom to practice one's religion without interference from the government.
Amendment
The 16th Amendment to the U.S Constitution allows the government to collect the Income Tax.Prior to this amendment, the federal government made an attempt to to create an Income Tax, and the tax was brought to court. The United States Supreme Court ruled that an "Income Tax" was unconstitutional. In response, the Income Tax Amendment was added to the U.S Constitution, making the tax legal.
The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution prevents the government from interfering in religion. It also gives people the freedom to practice whatever religion they choose.
The US Supreme Court's original jurisdiction is defined by Article III of the Constitution. Congress (Legislative Branch) can determine whether original jurisdiction is shared or exclusive, but can't strip the Court of its original jurisdiction or add to it. The Supreme Court's original jurisdiction may be changed by constitutional amendment, either initiated by a two-thirds vote of each house of Congress, followed by ratification of 75% of the State legislatures; or by the States if at least two-thirds petition for a Constitutional Convention to propose an amendment, and 75% of the states ratify that amendment.
The US Constitution protects the rights of the citizens of the US. The Constitution is limited to the federal government but is made applicable to the states by the Fourteenth Amendment's Equal Protection Clause.
