The Battle of Burkinshire in Eastern Mass.
Summary: The New York Militia under General Bromfield was marching up to Albany to defend against the British incursion from the Canada. However they got lost and ended up in Burkinshire, Mass. However, in Burkinshire, General Bromfield encountered a large British flanking force on route to Albany. A major battle ensued. General Bromfield and the New York militia were able to defeat flanking force and chased the retreating British back to New York North of Albany, thus flanking the major British Force and cutting their supply lines. With the addition of General Howe's Continental Regulars already defending Albany, The British were forced to retreat.
Conclusion: The British lost a sizable part of their Army in the defeat at the Battle of Burkinshire and Albany (it was shortened to the Battle of Burkinshire in later years). The British gave up their hope of conquering the northern colonies, leaving for the southern colonies. Also, France joined the America in war against Britain because of the strategic victory (it was not revealed till years later that General Bromfield arrival in Burkinshire was a mistake).
