In ancient Indian time, Aryans developed the caste system. They had fewer number of their people in India. Aryans were fair skinned, while more darked skinned Indians existed. So the caste system formed. Brahmins, then Kshatriyas, the Vaisyas, and Sudras. There were also untouchables.
The caste system grew more complex overtime.
The caste system in ancient India was similar to the one in Egypt, but the Indian one had more to do with religion. For example, if you were born into a family in the lowest class, do your job and in your next life, you will be born into a family higher up the caste system. It had to do with karma as well, good karma and the better your chances of a better next life. the hindus believed this to be a way of working in life rather than quitting booty
The Caste System developed in South India and was brought by south Indians to the north. The rules of the Varnas (social division); the Varnas got stricter, then the social order became more complex. The rulers decided to divide the people into five groups, that's now called the caste system. 1.Brahmins were at the top because they were the priests. 2. Then it was the Kshatriyas because they were rulers and warriors. 3. Then it was the vaisyas which were the farmers and the traders. 4. Then it was the sudras which were workers and servants. 5. Lastly, it was the untouchables which used to do all the dirty work that people did not want to do like disposing dead animals.. Hoped it helped ;) - Emma-
Farming,cooking and more.
Officially the caste system is illegal in India, proscribed by the Constitution of India in 1950. However, the caste system is still adhered to by many people in India, especially in rural areas. It is falling out of favor in the cities, and as people become more educated, it will continue to lose popularity, but it is unlikely that the type of discrimination engendered by the caste system will disappear totally anytime soon.

Although Urugusy has no caste system such as in place in India there are definite social strata derived from economic and racial groupings.People living below the poverty line are disproportionately from the mestizos and the African-Uruguayans. These same groups are more likely employed in domestic service.

The caste system used to go by what career you aspired, but now it changed to be a bit racist. Hinduism does not justify the caste system, and caste system is now illegal in india. It is more of a social/cultural thing than a religious custom.
In rural areas caste is insisted in your shadow .as you can't escape your shadow you cant escape your caste.
The Caste system is basically how the consists of: Brahmins (priests), Kshatryias (rulers/warriors), Vaisyas (merchants/farmers), Shudras (servants/labourers), and Outcastes. In my opinion, the caste system affects the society by making the people more exposed to prejudice, stereotyping and other things. These differences in rankings often cause disputes within the society. However, how it affects the society depends on how you see it.
The caste system totally screwed up India. It defined as a caste or a group that would be stagnated in that caste. In other words, you could not ascend in society. If you were born a pariah, you would stay as a pariah for the rest of your life, for example.
It depends on the level of faith one has on God. In most cases, God would be more than caste system. If the faith level is not too very high, then caste becomes more than God.
