the first people who established a colony in the U.S.A were Christians. That is why they left England so they could worship their own religion.
i belive he was jailed for 2 years but i could be wrong
Rhode Island, in the New England colonies, had the first place in America where people could worship freely.
So they could make money off of it.
A Colony doesn't have to be ruled by a king...while the American Colonies were subject to England the term colony could be a group of individuals that have maintained a close association with the country/people they left behind.
It is part of mercantilism. If England made it illegal for colonist to make these goods then they would have to buy them from English manufacturers and a dependence would be developed between colony and mothercountry. It can also be interpreted as keeping a colony from rebelling because that colony would not have the industrial means to produce the goods that England forbade them from producing.
The colony would start with a group home and a place to defend the colony. Then gradually individuals would build homes and the group home could become a church.
