The main protagonists were Britain and Germany, all European countries minus Switzerland and Sweden were involved. Italy was on the German side, then they changed, and the US joined in after December the 6th, Pearl Harbour. Most of the British Empire joined in as well. Australia, New Zealand and interestingly India, which demanded independence. France was invaded, surrendered and then collaborated with the Germans to the extent that they even arrested and transported Jews to the death camps. President Sarkosy of France said recently that France has regained its honour after the defeat of Gadaffi. What Honour Japan joined the war in the Far East, invading many countries and causing untold misery, especially in China. They moved all the way through the South Pacific, where the US fougt amazingly and ultimately prevailed, the Japs almost got to Australia. North Africa and the Middle East were also involved. So as you can see it was a true world war. Another front was Russia, they lost over 25 million people. The war ended in August 1945 after the US dropped two nuclea bombs on Japan, just a pity they did not have more. This is just off the top of my head, so I hope that you like the answer, if you need more details I could research it. celticdai@yahoo.com. Regards David.
