What are the advantages of a dam?
Advantages of dams: Dams are constructed based only on safety Dams are used to store water Dams are used in hydroelectric power generation to produce electricity. Dams are used in irrigation purposes. Dam's water is used for to supply water to domestic & industrial uses Dams are used for agriculture in village Dams prevent flooding Dams create a walkway Most dams are built to make a hydroelectric plant or to control the amount of water in a body of water, or both. So it could control water and/or generate electricity. Dams can keep water from flooding into towns, if the dam was built to get more land. Dams can also provide fresh water, too. But there also disadvantages. A dam is cutting away water supply from the animals that used to live by the water, and could help contribute to extinction.

In World War 2 who were the jambusters?
the were called the dambusters, the were special British pilots flying modified Lancaster's carrying the new British invention the bouncing bomb (so called because it bounced along the water to hit dams). the dambusters (617 Squadron, RAF) were carrying out an attack on the 3 German dams to: Cut water supplies for industrial and domestic use. What are dams used for?
Dams are any containment system inserted in aposition to prevent a flow of liquid. Dams in watercourses These create aresevoir of water that can be used for agricultural purposes, to prevent flooding, to regulate water supplies over the year or to generate Hydroelectric Energy. Dams in Metal work Clay dams are placed around areas in broken metal work to hold fluid metal in the area until it cools. "Not worth a tinker's dam" is a remnant of this as the dried clay dam was worth nothing after use. Dental dams These rubber sheets are installed by dentitists to stop tooth bits and such from falling to the back of the patients mouth
