Which diesel truck is the best between Chevy dodge and ford?

It all depends on your own preference on what truck you like, If we are just discussing diesels here are some facts on the big three.

On 2010 Dodge Ram 3500 (1 Ton) 2010 Motor Trend Truck of the Year

6.7 Liter Cummins Diesel I6

(Cummins is the only engine company of the tree that makes engines for semi trucks, boats, and tractors, so Cummins is a big name to people who use the diesels as work horses)

Makes 350 HP and 650 lbs of Torque @ 1500 rpm (which is the lowest among the three, meaning you will be able to start rolling with less power when pulling a large load)

This is as clean as the rest and just as or even quieter than the others.

On maintenance, since it's a diesels it doesn't need to be maintained as often as gas powered vehicles. The dodge needs an overhaul every 350,000 miles. Gas cars need between 60,000 and 100,000.

The new emissions standard on diesel require some to add a urea based exhaust fluid to keep it clean and pass emission. Not the dodge, this engine has been out there for 3 years now and has shown that it is a great engine.

On the Ford 2011 F350

New Ford built 6.7 powerstroke V8

Makes 400 hp and 800 lbs of Torque @ 1800rpm

This engine is Ford first diesel that they designed them selfs. Its the most fuel efficient of the three. It require you to add urea-based exhaust fluid when the monitor requires it. I have no experience with urea so this something new. Test have shown strong for this new engine, but it is new and might need to be tinkered with for the first year before it is perfect.

On the Chevy 2011 3500

6.6 liter V8

397 HP and 765 lbs of torque at 1700rmps

This engine was just upgrade for the 2011 model year. It has good quality experience in the field. It also requires you to add urea-based exhaust fluid when the monitor requires it.

All of the trucks offer exhaust braking systems(jake brake) (Dodge is standard, available on the rest.) All of the trucks look great on the exterior, Dodge has the best rated interior, with Ford next (Ford hasn't upgrade the HD interior in some years) Chevy in third still very plastic looking.

On towing in my experience and from other reviews I have read, that Chevy and Dodge underrate them self most of time when saying how much their tow rating is. And Ford overrates their tow rating, the Ford will be able to tow it but will have a trouble when it comes to an up hill grade.

Picking your truck is up to you not to what other people say. Do your research before purchasing and test drive all three before choosing. If you see one in a parking lot see if you can ask how the owner likes and dislikes it. They are always dislikes and its something you might not hear from truck model lovers.
