Many essential oils are very similar to the natural oils that we have in our skin such as jojoba oil and olive oil. Following are other essential oils and their skin remedies:

Lavender

Contains antiseptic and anti-fungal properties that further makes Lavender oil an effective option in treating dry, itchy skin. It was also found out to be effective in curing psoriasis and eczema.

Ylang-Ylang

Widely used as moisturizer for treating itchy, rough, and dry skin conditions.

Carrot Seed

Contains vitamin A and beta carotene that promotes cell regeneration, treat eczema symptoms, and most importantly, reverse the early signs of skin aging. Can also be combined wit jojoba oil or sunflower seed oil.

Chamomile

Effective in treating dry skin symptoms, eczema, and sunburn, among others. Can also be blended with other essential oils such as tea tree oil, ylang-ylang, and lavender.

What are some uses of jojoba oil?

One of the best carrier oils for your skin when used with essential oils. Some essential oils are so strong they can burn your skin. When you cut in the jojoba oil, it acts as a "carrier" for the essential oils. You still get all the energy of the oils, and you're skin is also protected. I use this oil with all my essential oils. I suggest mixing about 1-2 tablespoons of jojoba per 2-4 drops of oil. But really, the amount of oil you use depends on the oil itself and how strong it is. You can look up what is recommended on most essential oil website. This oil is also good for massages or to use on dry feet. The bottom of your foot is also an excellent place to introduce oils into your body. Try your oil mixture on your feet at night before bed and then put on some nice clean white socks. Enjoy!

What are some common carrier oils involved with essential oils?

Carrier oils are oils that you add essential oils to for application to the skin. Most essential oils are not recommended for direct application without substantial dilution. The most common carrier oils are light of fragrance, easily absorbed by the skin and often bring something beneficial to the mix. I tend to use sweet almond oil in most of my blends. It is easily obtainable, relatively inexpensive and not prone to people being allergic to it. For dry skin you can use: cocoa butter, olive oil, palm oil or peanut oil. For all skin types you can use: calendula infused oil, jojoba oil, or soybean oil. For oily skin you can use grape seed oil, sunflower oil or walnut oil.
