Why was queen Margot not queen of France?

Her brothers were the Kings and princes of France--the last of the Valois dynasty but Queen Margot was married to their close cousin, Henry de Bourbon, the king of neighboring small French kingdom of Navarre. Margot was theretore queen of Navarre not France. Her brothers died one by one and her husband suceeded them to the French throne because of his French royal blood. He became Henry IV, the first of the Bourbon dynasty of French kings and their proper title became Kings of France and Navarre at that point. He and Margot divorced because she was childless and he married an Italian princess. Margot and Henry remained great friends as she saved his life from her brothers and her mother several times during their marriage(a marriage that started with the Saint Barthelomew's massacre of the Protestant family and supporters of Henry). While Henry went on to father famous kings and queens with his new queen, and become one of the most beloved and greatest of the French kings,Margot lived a life of luxury with a succession of male lovers. The movie Queen Margot is an excellent telling of part of their story but because it is about one of Margot's famous affairs, it does not show what happened, the divorce, etc. It tells of Henry inheriting the throne as a postscript, etc. One of Henry's sons was Louis XIII of France--father of Louis XIV. One daughter was Henrietta Maria, queen of England and mother of Charles II and James II,kings of England. Another daughter was the queen of Spain and mother of French queen, Marie Therese, wife of Louis XIV(they were double first cousins). The Bourbons ruled France and eventually Spain as well. Juan Carlos the current king of Spain is a descendant of Henry IV and is a Bourbon.
