Trench warfare.
On the Western Front in WWI, trench warfare was the main type of fighting. The war lasted from autumn 1914 until spring 1918
Trench warfare was the symbol of a foot soldier in World War 1. Most of the battles for the foot soldier took place from a trench dug for protection.
Trench Warfare took place most notably in World War I. This type of warfare involved digging trenches (large lines about 12 feet deep) and slowly wearing down the enemy. Trenches were a good shelter from enemy small arms fire and well protected from most artillery strikes. Hope this helped. Type Trench Warfare Wiki into google.
World War I was a military conflict that lasted from 1914 to 1918. It was a modern war with airplanes, machine guns, and tanks. However, the commanders often fought World War I as if it were a 19th Century war. They would march their troops across open land into the face of machine guns and often slaughter. War before the 1st World War, were not trench warfare. Steel armor is one kind of warfare that took place before trench warfare.
Trench warfare was mainly promoted, where soldiers on both sides would dig trench lines hundreds of miles long, and make bayonet charges, generally a war of attrition. Numerous weapons were introduced to help break the stalemate, like the tank, chemical weapons, etc.
Trench warfare was when soldiers dug holes in the ground so they could hide and be protected from the enemy but also be able to attack. Trench warfare was so destructive because it dragged on for long periods of time, trenches took up a lot of land, a lot of corpses were left in the middle of no mans land, anything between the trenches was pretty much destroyed.
Trenches are a kind of cheap fortification that vast numbers of soldiers can use during the kinds of battles that took place during WW I. So if you are in a trench, it is harder for the enemy to shoot you. Then you try to wait for the right moment to come out of your trench and advance upon the enemy and kill him. It was a very messy and difficult form of warfare, and nobody does it anymore because air power renders it obsolete.
Trade, warfare.
There were many fronts being fought, the north, south, and east. In Russia there was fighting until the Russian Revolution. In Europe the fighting mostly took place in France through trench warfare. There was also some fighting in North Africa.
A trench knife is a specialized knife made specifically for the close quarter combat on World War 1. Most of the fighting took place in narrow trenches or on "no mans land" a trench knife, which consisted of a brass knuckle with a long blade permanently affixed to it was a handy weapon to have. The trench knife doubles as a brass knuckle and a knife; with the knife securly attached to the user's hand, the enemy could not easily take the knife from the user. In trench warfare where firing a gun while in the trench could accidentally harm a fellow soldier who happens to be behind an enemy, a knife or bayonet was a safer means to eliminate an enemy.
Jets fought in the skies over North Vietnam (the air war). Land warfare/Riverine warfare took place in South Vietnam.
