When my 1994 Pontiac Transport is in park and idling the the speedometer runs erratically? Why?
There is not a cable for the speedometer. The information is sent to the gauge cluster from the PCM. The PCM controls almost all aspects of the vehicle operation. All of the information on the gauge cluster comes from the PCM.
Did you find the problem? I have the same issue.
Yes, there is a fuse for this. It should be labeled INST.
Check your vehicle speed sensor. It controls your RPM's and your Speedometer. Hope this helps.
The gauge is part of the instument cluster ( the part with the speedometer ).The gauge is part of the instument cluster ( the part with the speedometer ).
The Aztek has been known to have screwy gas gauges. Mine "floats" from E to F and sometimes shows the actual level. I've heard it's a bad sending unit in the tank causing the problem. If your gauge just lies there, it's probably that the sending unit is done.
thermostat may be sticking and that cause the gauge to show hot, have it checked soon, you could be headed for bigger problems
why would a speedometer stop working on a Mazda
1998 Nissan Pathfinder the speedometer and heat gauge quit workin?
I believe the head is the part of the speedometer that is directly behind the faceplate of the gauge. It takes the input from the cable spinning at X rpm's (or sensor if electronic) and converts it mechanically into what your speedometer gauge indicates on the faceplate.
