for ambot.
low gear, first or second depending on the steepness
One gear down from normal road gear, but remember the transmission is not meant to be a brake.
If you are not towing anything for sure disengage the overdrive on an A/T. On a manual 5 speed put it in 4th, or 3rd, or 2nd, or even 1st gear depending on how steep the hill is and how fast you want to go.
Use a low gear. Which gear you should use depends on how steep a hill you are talking about and also how far down does the hill go. and are you using a standard or automatic transmission. Common sense should tell you to use a lower gear if the vehicle accelarates to much.
its where you put your dirt bike or ATV in 2nd gear to make it start by pushing it fast or going down a steep hill ..
It's an automatic. Leave it in "Drive" and the car will pick a suitable gear all by itself.
Traditionally, you would've been told to use the same gear you went up the hill in to go down the hill. However, it may be necessary to drop a gear, given that modern vehicles are much more aerodynamic than previous vehicles were.
The engine size should not matter when going down a hill, as long as you dont put it in too low of a gear and over rev your engine.
most of the time it saves gas but you should use low gear when towing or going down a steep hill
Gears in a car change where the powerband (or Torque) are in the RPM range relative to what gear it's in. When a car is put into 1st gear, the "power" in the car is very very low in the RPM range and this is why a car is put into a low gear when climbing a hill or steep grade.
No. You keep it in low gear, and let the torque of your motor work against gravity to help keep your vehicle under control.
