John Locke believes that inalienable rights in a social contract belong to the people. People need government but the government needs to do what is best for the people.
yes because he wanted the best for people and for them to have natural rights
The best protection for fundamental rights is a determination on the part of ordinary citizens to uphold them and to respect the constitution. It can't be left to the courts alone. This is an opinion and others may have different views. Ultimately, that's the only defense we have. The federal government has already taken away many of our rights, especially those involving private property. They are on their way to taking away the rest of them. Of course, they'll have to take away the right to bear arms first. When they do, it's all over. The first ten amendments protects our fundamental rights. These first ten amendments, called the Bill of Rights, protects the US citizens from having too much government. Therefore the Bill of Rights protects our fundamental rights.

Americans demanded protections for individual rights (sorry there wasn't any questions for this so I decided to put it here)

modern democracy
DemocracyDemocracy is best described by Abraham Lincoln as a form of government that is of the people, by the people and for the people. It is of two basic types:· direct and· Representative.· Direct democracy, it is the people who are actively involved in law-making and other policy decisions of the government.· Representative democracy allows people to choose the representatives amongst themselves who are given the rights to form the government. It usually has a standard constitution that confers certain rights of freedom and expression (and many other rights) to its citizens and expects certain duties from them and a uniform law to govern the entire nation.
