Patrick Henry favored the side of the American Revolution and was an influential figure in the early days of the revolution. He was a strong advocate for independence from Great Britain and eventually became a key figure in the Virginia Convention of 1775. He famously declared the words Give me liberty or give me death! in a speech during the convention which ultimately propelled the American colonies to fight for their freedom. Patrick Henry was a major proponent of the American cause and was a key figure in the Revolutionary War.

He was very patriotic and started the idea of splitting from Great Britan. He wasn't involved in the patriot army.

In March 1775, at the third Virginia convention, held in St. John's Church in Richmond, to discuss relations with Great Britain, Patrick Henry made his timeless "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death!" speech. King George had declared all 13 North American colonies to be in a state of open rebellion. Lord Dunsmore, the Royal Governor of Virginia, had ordered all the gunpowder in Williamsburg seized and stored aboard his ship anchored in the Virginia harbor, to keep it out of the hands local patriot forces.
