Both are not fine. The Duramax is junk with the bad Allison transmission.
I owned a 2000 F-350 with the 7.3L Powerstroke for 8 years. It was the best engine. Powerstroke . They pwer stroke will pull pretty much anything you need to pull. the power stroke is way better , and the power delivery felt the . The Duramax was junk to me and every body else

Is the duramax a good engine?
Everyone is gonna have their own opinion on this. Mine is yes, it is a great engine. In my opinion it is faster than dodge's and ford's diesel engines, and when it comes to towing, it will definitely hold its own. In my opinion, the duramax tows better than the powerstroke and is comparable to the cummins which might come out above duramax when it comes to towing a huge load. This is all my opinion though, I have yet to see an accurate and reliable side by side comparison of the three.

It depends on what you're asking they are better about. the Duramax is cheaper to upgrade and has better fuel mileage and stock the Duramax triumphs over the Cummins in torque and horse power. but there is a lot of stuff you can do to them both but the Duramax is all around less expensive. and as to which one lasts longer that can vary, the Duramax has proven to be a very reliable engine but the Cummins also has one heck of a reputation. no a powerstroke is the biggest peace of S H I T. cummins is the best diesel there is.It can also depend on the year of the motors. The powerstroke 7.3 turbo diesel is a very strong motor that has done very well for Ford. The 6.0 powerstroke on the otherhand has done very poorly for Ford. The cummins also gets better fuel mileage than the powerstroke by around 5 mpg's just as a stock motor, but power adders will afect that. In my personal opinion i would would take the cummins over the powerstroke.

If you compare the 7.3L Powerstroke to the 5.9L Cummins, I'd say equal quality. If you compare the 6.0L Powerstroke to the 6.7L Cummins, Powerstroke loses. If you compare 6.4L Powerstroke to 6.7L Cummins I'd say equal quality for that one too. The new 6.7L Powerstroke produces more power than the 6.7L Cummins and it is supposed to be the best Powerstroke engine ever. The warranty has been extended from 100,000 miles to a 125,000 miles! I'm so excited about this new Powerstroke. Ford says it is designed for an easy 300,000 miles. I don't know. Only time will tell if the 6.7L Cummins is better than the 6.7L Powerstroke.The cummins would defeat the powerstroke no its the other way around you have no idea what your are talking about because the power stroke would kill the dodge there is no power in the dodge
