Is usb cable or an Ethernet cable an example of a term peripheral as used in IT and computer science?
Unfortunately not, a periphal is anything that can be connected to the outside of a computer, but does not become part of the computer... an example for a peripheral would be: USB, bluetooth adapter, wireless internet adapter, keyboard and mouse... ect. The USB cable would be classed as a data cable, and the ethernet as a networking cable.
Your best shot is probably with either a usb 2 usb cable or 'crossover' ethernet cable.
What kind of Ethernet cable do i need for an xbox to cable modem connection if i am using a usb to connect the modem to my PC?
is it a straight ethernet or a crossover? i am using a Motorola SURFboard SB5120. You'll only need a straight ethernet cable for that.

Internet cannot travel through a USB cable, you would have to buy an ethernet cord and an ethernet adapter or use the Wii's wireless capabilities.
It is highly unlikely that the PS3's system software supports your USB cable modem. If at all possible, use an Ethernet cable instead.
You can not use a USB to connect the PS3 to Broadband only WiFi or ethernet cable
The answer to your question is NO. The HP 4200 does not come with a USB port, only parallel and optional ethernet ports. You can get a parallel to USB cable if you do not have a parallel port on your computer.
The best Ethernet cable is CAT-6 (UTP), if you have enough money you can get STP for better performance and stability.
There is the A/V cable which can be replaced with an optional HDMI cable. The Charging Cable which is a Mini USB and a Full size USB at the other end. There is also a Power Cord. They can be an Ethernet Cable for a wired online connection, but it would not be part of the PS3 equipment in the box
At the minimum, you will need a DSL modem and a computer with USB ports. Not all DSL modems support Windows 98 through USB, though. If your modem doesn't support Windows 98 on USB, then you will need at a minimum an Ethernet card and a crossover cable. If you want to share the connection with multiple computers, you need an Ethernet or Wi-fi router, and either a wireless card or Ethernet card and cable… Read More
you have to have wifi(wireless internet connection) in your home or near you. You can also connect an ethernet cable to the PlayStation 3 From your cable Modem or from your router and this provides a better connection than the wireless G connection. What you can not do is use any method to connect to the internet by trying to use the PS3 USB port. The connection must be either WiFi or ethernet.

Typically, one of three ways: An ethernet cable, which is the most common. Merely connect an ethernet cable to your computer and the router. A USB cable, less common. Same connection. A Wireless system (WiFi), becoming widespread. Requires WiFi antennas on both the router and the computer.
You likely need to reset the cable modem in order for the modem to locate the physical address of your new Ethernet card. Make sure the Ethernet cable is properly connected to both the modem (or your router) and the Ethernet card at the back of the computer. Following tihs you may also want to restart your computer. Ethernet by far. The wireless one causes a lot more lag.
USB stands for Universal Serial Bus... If you meant to ask if you can use your USB port to somehow connect to the internet, then yes. You can get a USB wireless (Wifi) adapter if you have a wireless network (or wireless router, connect to a high-speed internet connection like Cable, DSL, etc...) If you do not have, or don't want a wireless network but would still like to connect to the internet through Ethernet… Read More
A PS3 could use a HDMI cable to get HDTV although it has a A/V cable for 480i TV connection. It could also use a ethernet cable to get a wired internet connection instead of WiFi. It could also use another Mini USB to USB charging cable although it come with one.
Depends what you mean by a serial cable - Fibre, Ethernet, RS232, RS485, RS422, USB, HDMI, SMPTE292 are all examples of serial communications media. RS232 max length 50 ft Ethernet max length 100 m
I can only think of two ways you can connect two computers if they don't have network cards: 1. Use a serial cable. All computers have serial ports, so this would be the easiest solution, though it will be a little slow. Look up directions online on how to do this. 2. If both computers have an IR (infra-red) port you can use that to connect the two. More input from FAQ Farmers: * or… Read More
Not sure exactly what you mean, if the ethernet cord connects to the wireless adapter then yes. (Or the wireless dongle plugs into the ethernet port). Can you unplug one then use the other then yes. If you mean can you use a USB wireless dongle and the ethernet connected to the same network then no.
The two most common cables for transferring data files, music or otherwise, from one PC to another are a USB 2.0 transfer cable, and a Cross-Over Ethernet cable.
Yes it can if you want a HDTV connection that is not for a standard TV you need to purchase a HDMI cable. If you want a wired internet connection you need to purchase an ethernet cable If you want to charge more than a single controller at a time you need to purchase another cable USB to Mini USB cable or a charging station
Regular computer peripheral inputs are Ethernet cables, USB (universal serial bus) ports and Auxiliary earphone/microphone jacks. For a laptop, it would have a input symbol for a power cable also. USB = a three pronged arrow-headed symbol Audio jack = Headphones Ethernet cable = three squares, 1 above 2 below
No the plug under the USB is not a phone port and is an ethernet cable port
No the USB port can not be used for an internet connect on the PS3. It must be WiFi or ethernet cable
1. Dial-up - You use a dial-up modem in your computer to connect to the internet over a phone line. 2. Ethernet - You connect to a cable / DSL modem with an Ethernet cable, either directly to the modem or through a router. 3. No Cricket can not provide PS3 internet. A PS3 must connect with WiFi or Ethernet Cable to the internet and the service must be cable broadband or DSL
Well usb has charging capabilitys for cell phones, ipods, ect and is usually not used as an internet cable. Also most computers have a few USB ports. Now ethernet connection is used for connecting your computer to let say your router/modem to use internet. It is not used for much else at all. Hope this helped
Yes, you can use the power over ethernet for the USB ports.
The PS3 must use it's Ethernet port to connect unless it is using WiFi. It also must be a cable or DSL broadband internet service. If you can not provide the correct internet service how you try to connect will not help. It seems you want to connect something that has internet service and a USB port with a PS3. It likely will provide a poor if any connection.
A Cat 5(good) or Cat 6 (better) ethernet cable plugs into the router and the ethernet slot in the back of the PS3 for a wired internet connection.
Ethernet cable is typically 8-core category 5 (CAT5) cable with RJ45 plugs on each end, capable of bi-directional network transmission up to 100m. CAT5e and CAT6 are better quality cable for network communications over longer distances.
another name for an ethernet cable is a cat5 or cat5e cable
The PS3 must be connected to a broadband internet service with WiFi or an ethernet cable. The USB ports will not allow an internet connection
no u must use an ethernet cable or wireless internet For most people who do not have a wireless connection in their home they must also purchase at least a router to allow a connection between the cable modem and the PS3. An ethernet cable allows a wired connection between the PS3 and the router and if running a cable is a problem you need to purchase a wireless router. Although I purchased a wireless… Read More
You do get a slightly faster connection with Ethernet over USB. This can range from 1% to 5%. The main advantage is not necessarily speed but stability. Ethernet is a much more stable connection. I highly recommend connecting via Ethernet. If your computer does not have an ethernet connection, you can purchase a card for around $20 and install it. It doesn't matter when dealing with a residential broadband connection. USB is around 11mbps and… Read More
