Answer:The answer is simple. God created man (and women), so he existed prior to any stories that might have been created by his creatures...the vikings, monks, etc. Jesus is God and it is noted in the Old Testament that Jesus created earth and all of its inhabitants so Jesus existed before the stories created by the vikings, monks, whoever. Jesus when born in human form is what I believe is being debated so the myths may predate Jesus when he came to this earth in human form - but he existed before man and he is still living. Answer:The stories about Baldr and any other Nordic myth weren't actually written down by the Vikings or those that celebrated the Aesir gods. Instead these myths were written down by a monk many years after all Aesir followers had switched to Christianity. Its hard to pin point what year the myth could have been created since the stories where originally passed around orally; however, this religion was celebrated by the Norse before Christianity. It could very well be that the myth of Baldr dying (which is what I'm guessing this question is about) was created before the myth of Jesus being killed. After all, the religion of the Aesir is a lot older then the religion of Christ.

My suggestion, if you're really serious about this, read Prose Edda and look up the history of the Vikings.
