The Knights of Labor was an all inclusive labor union that welcomed all, including women and blacks. Formed in the 1880's, they called for the moral uplifting of the working man and an eight hour work day. While its membership burgeoned in the late 1880's, its internal problems of poor organization and management caused it lose membership and eventually end.
