Very broad question, with several possible answers- the Colonial period of Virginia was well over 100 years in length. One of the better known, in the period just prior to the American Revolution was Patrick Henry. However, Nathaniel Bacon, 100 years earlier, also urged Virginians to prepare for war- against the native Americans in Virginia. Just for fun, look up "Bacon's Rebellion".
