The latest confirmed element discovered was Livermorium, 116Lv, in 2000. Ununseptium is not officially credited as "discovered" by the IUPAC/IUPAP Joint Working Party, but it is the most recently synthesized element, made in 2010.

Why do some elements on the periodic table have 3 letters?

There are three-letter elements on the peridic table because they do not have real names yet.

How many elements have two symbols?

Every element recognized so far has a unique symbol in the periodic table. Some has one letter in their symbol, where many have two letters. A set of recently discovered elements using nuclear fission reactions have three.

How did the chemists change mendeleevs periodic table?

Well.... one of the many changes that were made to the periodic table was its appearance. It was coloured in in order for people to recognise the different groups. Red for Group 1, orange for Group 2 etc... Hope this helps. Jeremy Eric Slazkowski, Des Moines, Iowa The Periodic Table was first constructed around 1870 when the Russian chemist Dmitry Mendeleyev catalogued all of the known elements. The elements were arranged according to their similarities. More recently discovered elements were added, and the order of elements became based on their atomic numbers. The modern periodic table has much of the same information as the original one by Mendeleyev, but is arranged somewhat like a chart with elements having similar properties falling into columns called groups or families.

Horizontal row of elements in the periodic table?

Not really, I learned about this recently and I am positive that groups are vertical and periods are horizontal. One example would be the noble gases group, it is located in the 18th vertical column from the left

Who introduced the name periodic table?

It was named by Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev in 1869, in memory of his then recently-deceased colleague and clandestine "gentleman friend", Benjamin D. Periodic.

What new elements were discovered?

Take a look at a periodic table. All elements after Uranium were discovered fairly recently, within the last 100 years or so. Some others, such as Technetium and Francium, were also discovered in that time.Take a look at a periodic table. What is the total number of elements on the periodic table?

As of July 2009, there are 117 elements on the Periodic Table. As of November 2009, there are 126 elements on the Periodic Table.3 are recently discovered and don't have much data, unless my previous number wer counted wrong. Hope this helps!

How many elements are in row 15 of the periodic table?

There is no "row 15" in any periodic table I have ever seen. There is a column 15 in a wide form periodic table, which contains the stable elements nitrogen, phosphorus, arsenic, antimony, and bismuth, for a subtotal of 5, and may contain one of the very heavy and radioactive elements recently made.

What is newest element in periodic table?

The most recently discovered element is the Ununoctium in 2006, apparently Element 118 which is Ununoctium is hardly around long enough to do much. It decays in less than a thousandth of a second. Amazing isn't it???

Is the Higgs boson on the periodic table?

No. The periodic table contains the elements, which are made of atoms. The Higgs boson is a much smaller particle than an atom. Yes, but it was a theoretical element until recently when its presence was proved. The Higgs Boson is a subatomic particle that apparently weighs 130 times as much as an atom of hydrogen, the lightest gas.

Which is the Recently discovered frozen planet on mars?

water was recently discovered on planet mars

What does the element aluminum's family have in common on the periodic table?

Aluminum's family is called the Boron family because it is the first element in the column. They all have three electrons in the outer valance shell and all but Uut (recently discovered) were discovered in the 1800's. Most of the elements also go through Beta decay, but not all. The group consits of poor metals with the exeption of Born, which is a metalloid.
