Coffs Harbour Region, NSW. Mild winters nd not too hot in summer. Melbournites are realising that they don't have to travel to the Sunshine Coast which is over-cemented, over-populated and hot and humid.

I agree with the previous respondant , I would expand the area from Newcastle N.S.W to Yamba N.S.W . Basically ANYWHERE on the coast you get afternoon sea breezes in summer . The winters are mild , the summers divine , the water temperature is exquisite . Where I grew up I never owned a coat and we did not need an air conditioner in summer . If you want to experience one of the best drives in the world . Take the pacific Highway up the coast from Sydney take a month and STOP every hour or two .get off the highway take the drives around beaches and lakes, also the nearby mountain range has some amazing places . You will discover the most incredible coastal towns and scenery . You will find beaches and natural bush land of extraordinary beauty . Doing the "town hop" you will find a place that feels right to you . Many of the "grey nomads" move further south in Summer and north in Winter . The coast of Australia is a precious jewel , a place where you will luxuriate in natures glory

This really depends on personal preferences.

Many people think the tropical north is the best place to live, but one is subject to cyclones and floods there. Further south, towards Brisbane and the Gold or Sunshine Coasts, there is little chance of cyclones, bushfires or even major flooding. The temperatures are pleasant during most of the year, but summers can be hot and humid. Northern NSW is particularly pleasant. Most of Australia's population is concentrated along the eastern coastline because of the temperate climate.

Others prefer the cooler climate of Tasmania, but its summers are quite erratic, with maximum temperatures easily varying 15 degrees from one day to the next.

Victoria and South Australia suffer extremes of hot, dry summers (with associated bushfire danger), whilst Perth has a very temperate climate, with occasional extremes.
