Armenia was the first country to make Christianity the official state religion. It probably happened soon after 314, after the Edict of Milan in 313 made Christianity a tolerated religion in the Roman Empire

Traditionally, the date has been set at 301. In any event, it was well before 380 when Emperor Theodosius made Christianity the official state religion of the Roman Empire.

Did Christianity originate in Armenia?

NO. Christianity really began with the followers of Jesus in the southwest Levant (Israel/Palestine) and had many of its doctrines codified in the Aegean region (Greece and Western Turkey). Armenia is famous in the history of Christianity since it is one of the first, if not the first, country to make Christianity its official religion. (There are arguments as to whether Georgia or Ethiopia beat Armenia to the punch of being the first country to make Christianity its official religion, but we are talking about decades here, not centuries of difference.)

What Roman ruler first adopted Chritianity as the first Roman official religion?

The emperor Constantine was the first Christian emperor of Rome, or at least that's what most people believe. Constantine never converted to Christianity during his reign, but it is alleged that he had a "death bed conversion" by his friend Eusebius, who as a bishop of the church, and had an agenda to promote Christianity. All Constantine actually did was to make Christianity a legal religion. It wasn't until Theodosius I, in 380 AD, that Christianity became the official religion of the empire.
