The right or left side of an automobile is determined from sitting in the drivers seat facing forward, so the right side would be the passengers side.
Under the bonnet, to the right hand side of the inlet manifold
The thermostat is on the water inlet side of the cooling system. This is side closest to the serpentine belt, right below the alternator and intake manifold. Just have to drain the cooling system first (wait until if completely cools down!), disconnect the ECT sensor, remove two nuts, disconnect water inlet from block. Thermostat will be right behind that, don't forget the gasket.
if its a 3.1, the possibility is the intake manifold gasket!!

intake manifold gasket is leaking. They are famous for it around 80000 miles
The 'inlet' on a muffler refers to the side in which the exhaust gasses from the manifold enter the muffler. The outlet is the side that the gasses exit out to the tail pipe/s.
open the bonnet, alloy part bolted to the R/H side of engine is the inlet manifold. NOTE: IF you need to ask this question do not attempt any maintenence yourself.
right side under manifold right side under manifold
The manifold itself could be cracked. I have a 2000 Pathfinder LE with 100k miles and a 3.3. I noticed an antifreeze leak on the right side of the top of the engine. Using a mirror, I found that under the manifold, there was a nice crack.
The air intake temperature sender is located at the right hand side, back of the engine when looking from the front of the car. It is found screwed into the inlet manifold at the top of the engine. Disconnect wiring and unscrew sensor.
its coming fron the engine Had the same issue and while yes it is from the engine not sure if there is anitifreeze anywhere else :) The source was the lower intake manifold gasket was leaking, common on this engine... I was lucky and it did not leak into the oil. The gasket does not cover the front and rear of the block, that is where the bead of gasket sealer runs up the angle to the gasket. Where the manifold meets the block at the angle is prone to leak. Took me a day to do but I was in no hurry. Hope that helps
